bESTology 2025- Lesson #7

Published by Gwynn on

Welcome to bESTology 2025 fACTOIDS

This mission will focus your thinking through interaction of AI and deepen your knowledge of  Deep Learning and Neural Networks. Learning how to use prompts for AI to create responses is an important part of using AI Chatbots and Generative AI Tools. Are you ready to begin the programming journey, create thinking programs integrating human interaction with the digital world? Let’s begin this mission…

Lesson #2-  “The key to success with AI is not just having the right data, but also asking the right questions.” – Ginni Rometty

Mission seven will have you learn about prompts and using Critical Thinking to assess the accuracy and responses using AI Chatbots and Generative AI tools. With humans controlling the programming for technology, the design of the program, influence of thoughts and debugging behavior errors is a human task that digital devices demonstrate.

ACTIVITY

Challenge! Using what you have learned about writing Prompts, Machine Language, Computational Thinking, Bias, and Neural Networks use the links below to create AI Prompts and analyze the responses. Did you use any of the steps in the Engineering Design Process? Identify those steps and how they were used for the design of the prompt. How could you use prompts to assist you with your robot design? Share your insights in your Engineering Notebook.

  • What did you notice about how prompt engineering works?
  • How accurate was the generated response?
  • Did you find  bias in the response?
  • What AI tool did you use?
  • How did you debug for accuracy?
  • How functional was your overall response for your team, task, overall results?

INQUIRY PROJECT

Ginny Rometty was the CEO of IBM.  Learn about her and how she has impacted society and the technology we use today. Thinking about her quote at the beginning of this lesson, how will you share what you have learned about AI Prompt Engineering, Machine Language and neural networks showing you asking the right questions in your Engineering Notebook? How will this lesson support your team in asking the right questions with your robot design, construction, and software design?

BEST IN YOUR COMMUNITY

Learn how AI is helping small businesses stay competitive in today’s business world. After reading the article, think about the small businesses in your community. Connect with one or two and find out if they are using AI and in what ways AI is or not supporting their business. How could AI support the marketing plan for your team? Share your investigation in your Engineering Notebook.
