Wikipedia<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Truck_driver\">Truck Driver Licensing and Regulations \u2013 Wikipedia<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dol.gov\/\">U.S. Department of Labor<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mynextmove.org\/\">Explore Career Choices at My Next Move<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/SLTC\/trucking_industry\/\">OSHA and the Trucking Industry<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/dts\/maritime\/index.html\">OSHA and the Maritime Industry<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/SLTC\/airline_industry\/index.html\">OSHA and the Airline Industry<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/\">SurveyMonkey<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skype.com\/\">Skype<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b>Brainstorming:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brainstorm and create a chart showing the types of licenses or certifications required to become a captain, truck driver, railroad engineer or pilot.\u00a0 Continue researching and listing the types of training\/schooling required, salaries, responsibilities, and rules\/regulations associated with each occupation.\u00a0 Generate a hypothesis of how much the average person knows or understands about each of the above occupations.\u00a0 Once your brainstorming chart is complete, continue to the next activity to test your hypothesis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b>Writing:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The \u201cT\u201d in BEST stands for TECHNOLOGY, therefore using the data from the brainstorming activity, design an online survey.\u00a0 SurveyMonkey, a free online tool, can be used to survey classmates, friends and family.\u00a0 The survey should be designed to gather data of each participant\u2019s knowledge surrounding the careers of a captain, truck driver, railroad engineer and pilot.\u00a0 Include the answers of each question at the end of the survey to ensure the activity was a learning experience for each participant.\u00a0 Analyze the results using the SurveyMonkey analysis tool and share your findings with your classmates.\u00a0 Be sure to include whether your hypothesis was correct and what you learned from this activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><\/b><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b>BEST Robot:<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Just like a captain, truck driver, railroad engineer or pilot, a robot driver must know all of the game rules (laws), field rules (regulations), equipment (robot), safety (what happens in an emergency), type of cargo that must transported, etc.\u00a0 BEST robot drivers are in the driver\u2019s seat or at the helm!\u00a0\u00a0 As we prepare for Bladerunner, generate an employment application for the team members interested in becoming a robot driver.\u00a0 Reflect on real-world robot drivers who operate military drones, underwater-unmanned vehicles, search and rescue robots, etc., and determine how\u00a0the employment applications would look similar.\u00a0 Remember, robot drivers need to be the BEST of the BEST!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b>Community Connection:\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Remembering the \u201cT\u201d in BEST stands for TECHNOLOGY, use Skype, a free online communication tool to arrange online interviews with a captain, truck driver, railroad engineer and a pilot.
